About Material Truth

Material Truth is a site in its beginning stages. The biggest goal is to help people become more aware of a variety of issues happening globally and how they affect all of our lives. These days it’s hard to develop a good understanding of the news, especially with so many conflicting narratives. This site is intended to provide people with easier access to a range of subjects and sources. That being said, the focus is geared towards issues such as human rights, government transparency and responsibility, social justice, the promotion of peaceful solutions to conflict, free speech, etc.  I will also be exploring consequences of globalization and imperialism, such as the exploitation of a growing number of people and damage to the natural environment.

Several times a week on the homepage I will post links to articles collected from an assortment of sources, usually outside of the “mainstream media.” There are also several other pages with information that will be updated on a regular basis.

As I expand the site, I would like to make it interactive by accepting suggestions for topics and sources. I always appreciate hearing new perspectives! Eventually I hope to feature articles submitted by readers and fellow activists, as well as original art or music relevant to the issues explored on the site.

  3. “It is an illusion that youth is happy, an illusion of those who have lost it; but the young know they are wretched for they are full of the truthless ideal which have been instilled into them, and each time they come in contact with the real, they are bruised and wounded. It looks as if they were victims of a conspiracy; for the books they read, ideal by the necessity of selection, and the conversation of their elders, who look back upon the past through a rosy haze of forgetfulness, prepare them for an unreal life. They must discover for themselves that all they have read and all they have been told are lies, lies, lies; and each discovery is another nail driven into the body on the cross of life.”
― W. Somerset Maugham, Of Human Bondage
